LeonaLeona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British performer, songwriter as well as an actress and activist. Born and raised in the London Borough of Islington, she attended in the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon. Lewis was a star on the national stage in the Third X Factor's third show in 2006. She also received a PS1 million recording contract with Syco Music. The winner's song, a cover to Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" was a top-charting #1 for four weeks on UK Singles Chart and broke a world record by reaching 50k digital downloads in thirty minutes. Clive Davis' label J Records, signed Lewis to a deal for five albums in February 2007. Lewis kept her momentum going with Spirit the first studio album. The album was platinum 10x accredited in the UK. This album became the fourth most-sold album in 2000s, and also among the most-sold UK albums. Spirit According to Official Charts Company is the 21st Century's most-sold debut album of a female artist. The lead single, "Bleeding Love", had a run of seven weeks at the top of the charts at first in UK and was also the top-selling single in 2007. The song was among the best-selling in 2008 as well. Lewis earned the Billboard Award for the Best New Artist. In 2009, she released her second studio album, Echo and also recorded the title track, "I See You", for the film Avatar. Lewis also dropped "Collide" in 2011as in a collaboration along with Swedish DJ Avicii. Also, she released Hurt an EP that was her first extended performance. Glassheart (2012) came out as Lewis's third studio album. It was an innovative new style. Lewis draws inspiration from dubstep as well as electronic music. During her Glassheart Tour in 2013, she started recording music for her first Christmas album. Christmas, with Love was released later in the year. Its opening track, "One More Sleep" reached the top spot at three across the UK. The chart's top position was what made Lewis one of the very first British single female singer to make it to the top 5 spots, having eight singles. Also, she broke the record of Olivia Newton-John's seven.
